Relaxation in one of the most beautiful cities in Europe
The Polish city of Gdansk enchants with its historic buildings and unique charm.
The former Hanseatic city on the Baltic Sea has an eventful history that still has a strong influence on today's cityscape.
The capital of Pomerania was for a long time the pawn of the powers Germany and Poland and went down in history as the birthplace of the solidarity trade union.
Almost completely destroyed in World War II, it is all the more admirable as today's old town, which has been lovingly restored, new buildings with hotels, shops, restaurants and pubs were built in the style of the time and show Gdansk in the most beautiful postcard idyll.
The Crane - the gateway to the city of Gdansk
One of the most popular sights of the city of Gdańsk is its famous Crane. A forerunner of today's crane gate was built in the second half of the 14th century and almost completely burned down in 1442. In the following two years it was rebuilt and received its typical form at that time. The crane gate is made of brick and wood and also has a six-story double hoist towering over the two towers on its sides. The Danzig Crane is one of the oldest buildings in the German-speaking area that has this special type of crane construction. The design of the crane can be assigned to the brick Gothic style. It is a double semi-circular tower gate with steep roof slopes. The Crane is located at the Mottlaufhafen and is the landmark of the city of Gdansk
